How to Trace Your Foot
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor surface
- Stand on the paper with your full weight on the foot being measured
- Have someone trace around your foot, keeping the pen perpendicular to the paper
- Mark the longest point (tip of longest toe to heel)
- Mark the widest point across the ball of the foot
Tip: Measure your feet in the evening when they're at their largest. If one foot is larger, use those measurements.
Enter Your Measurements
Using a ruler or measuring tape, measure the distance between the marks you made:
- Length: From heel to the tip of your longest toe
- Width: Across the widest part of your foot (ball area)
Typical range: 21–31 cm
Typical range: 7–12 cm
Accuracy matters: Measure in centimetres for the most accurate results. Round to the nearest 0.5 cm if unsure.

👟 Sizes by Brand
Use these brand recommendations when selecting your shoe size.
*Recommendations are based on UK sizing for conversion behind the scenes; fit can vary slightly by model and width.
📝 Fit Notes
- Wide fittings typically add approximately 3mm to 6mm to the ball width
- Some brands (e.g., Werner Kern) run slightly large and may require ordering half a size smaller. While Very Fine has a more narrow width on open toe and latin shoes.
- Latin shoes generally fit more snugly than Ballroom shoes
- Break-in period: New dance shoes may feel tight initially but will stretch slightly with wear
