Sizing Guide by Brand

Finding the right fit is essential for both comfort and performance on the dance floor. Ballroom shoes are designed differently from street shoes, offering flexible soles, closer fits, and a variety of heel options. To help you choose the perfect size, we’ve created detailed conversion charts that compare UK, US, European, and centimeter measurements. Use these charts as a guide to select the best fit for your foot length and style of dance. If you are between sizes or unsure, we recommend measuring your foot in centimeters and referring to the length column for the most accurate match.

International Dance Shoes offers a range of width fittings. Their standard fittings are Regular, Wide, Extra Wide and Narrow, but can go as far as Extra Extra Extra Wide and Extra Extra Extra Narrow. Each fitting has a 0.3cm difference (Ex: a Wide fit is 0.3cm wider than a Regular fitting in the circumference in the front of the shoe). The additional fitting is based on the circumference of the upper/vamp and the insole remains the same width throughout the various fittings, except when wider than Extra Extra Wide (please reach out to us for sizing at usballroomshoes@gmail.com)

Differences in Width Fittings:

- Regular vs. Wide: The difference between our regular and wide fitting is 3mm; and narrow and regular is 3mm. For extra-wide fittings, the difference increases to 6mm compared to regular.
- Size Increments: A wide fitting generally adds approximately half a size in width, while an extra-wide fitting corresponds to roughly a full size increase. Narrow fittings reduce the width by about half a size.
- Toe Shape Impact: Pointed toe court shoes are typically about half a size wider than rounded toe court shoes.

Please note that fitting can vary between different styles, so consider this before ordering.

Dance shoes should fit snugly without pinching, as the nappa or suede leather gives way when dancing. As a rule, our dance shoes are slightly larger than regular street shoes. The size chart below already takes this into account and gives you information about the conversion of UK sizes into EU sizes and US sizes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We often find that women dancers take a half size smaller in Latin shoes than street shoes, as they are usually worn tighter so that they feel secure on the foot while dancing. If converting from your street shoe size, you may therefore wish to select a half size lower when ordering Latin models. For example, if you wear a US women's size 5 street shoe, you may find a UK size 2.5 most suitable in our Latin sandals (rather than size 3 as the chart suggests). This, however, is largely a matter of personal preference, so we cannot guarantee that it will be the case for everyone.
